Dr. Nawaaz Nathoo

First graduating with a doctor of medicine from the University of Alberta in 2010, Dr. Nawaaz Nathoo went on to complete his ophthalmology residency at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2015, and soon after completed a fellowship in clinical education also at UBC in 2017.
Dr. Nathoo splits his time developing his skills as a comprehensive ophthalmologist while also pursuing a path in medical education.
Apart from practicing medical and surgical ophthalmology at Vancouver General Hospital, Dr. Nathoo has the distinction of being named the medical director for the hospital’s outpatient clinic. He also participates in the RACE On-Call service, providing ophthalmology consultations to family physicians and nurse practitioners in British Columbia.
In addition to his in-clinic duties, Dr. Nathoo is also a clinical instructor at UBC’s department of ophthalmology and visual sciences, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health professions education through Maastricht University.
Dr. Nathoo has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, including the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, Orbit, the Journal of Glaucoma, the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology to name a few.
He also regularly presents at conferences, as well as events like the UBC Ophthalmology Grand Rounds and the Canadian Conference on Medical Education, and has been a visiting lecturer globally, giving presentations at events in Canada, as well in Kenya and Nepal.
