Dr. Azizi completed a Bachelor of Science with honours at York University’s Centre for Vision Research followed by a Master of Science in Vision Science at the University of Waterloo.
He earned his medical degree at St. George’s University and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in anterior segment disease at Harvard Medical School before undergoing an ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Azizi is a comprehensive ophthalmologist in Barrie, Ontario, with expertise in refractive lens exchange (RLE) and cataract surgery. He provides medical, surgical, and urgent eye care in the Simcoe and Muskoka areas.
Dr. Azizi has been the recipient of a number of prestigious awards over the years. This includes the Dean of Science Award for outstanding performance at the University of Waterloo for his master’s thesis as well as the Young Investigator Travel Award, given to him by the International Society for Eye Research. He was also presented with the Richard Lindstrom Research Grant by the Eye Bank Association of America.
As an accomplished researcher, Dr. Azizi’s work has appeared in academic journals such as Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, the American Journal of Pathology, and Cornea. He’s also notably volunteered his skills as a moderator for the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery as well as an external reviewer for the European Research Council in the past.
