Dr. Pollmann obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with distinction at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he also went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree. He then completed a five-year residency in ophthalmology at Dalhousie University, where he served as chief resident. Subsequently, Dr. Pollmann underwent subspecialty training in cornea and external eye disease, completing a clinical fellowship at the University of Montréal.
Dr. Pollmann is an ophthalmologist as well as a cornea, cataract, and external eye disease specialist at the QEII Health Center in Halifax. He holds an academic appointment as assistant professor at Dalhousie University, where he is actively involved in research and the training of ophthalmology residents.
Dr. Pollmann is experienced in refractive corneal procedures, including LASIK, PRK, and PTK surgery, as well as cataract surgery and corneal transplantation. He is an expert in keratoconus and corneal ectasia and offers Corneal Cross-Linking (CXL) and CXL + T-PRK surgeries.
Dr. Pollmann’s research has been published in a variety of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Cornea and the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Pollmann has been the recipient of numerous awards throughout his academic and professional careers. From Dalhousie University, these include the prestigious Killam Postgraduate Medical Scholarship (Killam Trusts Laureate) and the Dr. Francis C and Emily Yoh Tan Resident Award for Excellence in Academics and Professionalism.
