Dr. Wong has a Bachelor of Science degree with honours from the University of Windsor, where he majored in chemistry and minored in mathematics. He completed his Doctor of Medicine followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University.
Dr. Wong has a variety of clinical ophthalmology specialities, including general ophthalmology and cataracts, and performs LASIK and PRK surgeries.
He’s currently a full-time comprehensive ophthalmologist with OR privileges and on-call responsibilities at both St. Mary’s General Hospital and Grand River Hospital. He’s also an associate ophthalmologist at Ocular Health Centre. Moreover, Dr. Wong is an Assistant Clinical Professor at McMaster University and teaches clinical ophthalmology skills to residents and medical students, sharing his skills and expertise.
Dr. Wong was a recipient of Western University’s Kwitko Family Scholarship in Ophthalmology, which is awarded to a graduating student of the Doctor of Medicine program who demonstrated enthusiasm and clinical excellence in ophthalmology rotations.
Prior to that, he was honoured with the University of Windsor’s Board of Governors Medal in Chemistry and Biochemistry, given to a graduating student with the highest academic standing in the chemistry and biochemistry program. During his time at the University of Windsor, he was also a recipient of the NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA), the Canadian Society for Chemistry Silver Medal, and the Dr. Ripu and Joan Singh Prize of Excellence.
Dr. Wong’s work has been published on numerous occasions, including in the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology.
