Dr. Natasha Yepes earned her medical degree from CES University in Medellín, Colombia, in 1993. She completed her ophthalmology training at the University of Antioquia in Medellín in 1998. She then pursued a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases at Toronto Western Hospital through the University of Toronto from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, she completed the Practice Ready Assessment program at the University of Toronto and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada since 2008.

Dr. Yepes is an experienced ophthalmologist with expertise in cornea, cataract, and general ophthalmology. Her professional background includes serving as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Antioquia from 1998 to 2002, while also practicing as an ophthalmologist at Punto de Vista in Medellín, Colombia, during the same period. She completed a cornea fellowship at the University of Toronto from 2003 to 2005 and later participated in the University of Toronto Practice Ready Assessment Program in 2007. At LASIK MD in Kitchener-Waterloo, Dr. Yepes performs LASIK, PRK, Laser PresbyVisioTM, CXL + T-PRK, and corneal cross-linking. She has performed 10,000 ocular procedures and has also served as a Staff Ophthalmologist at Grand River and St. Mary’s Hospital since 2008.

Dr. Yepes has contributed extensively to research in cornea and external eye disease, with publications and presentations focused on keratomycosis treatment, dry eye following penetrating keratoplasty, infectious keratitis after overnight orthokeratology, corneal re-epithelialization after moxifloxacin uses in penetrating keratoplasty, and outcomes in deep lamellar endothelial keratoplasty. Her work has been presented at respected ophthalmology meetings including COS, CSCRS, ARVO, and ASCRS. In recognition of her research, she received third place in the COS/Coherent-AMT Award for Excellence in Research for her paper on deep lamellar endothelial keratoplasty one-year results.
