I got my first pair of glasses when I was eight years old and have been wearing contacts since the age of 15. At first everything was fine but as I got older and began competing at a more elite level in skeleton racing, my contacts became a huge hassle. Let me tell you, having a contact lens fold in your eye when you're sliding down the track at 130 km/hr is more than a little concerning! After years of fumbling with glasses and contacts during travelling (one of my biggest pet peeves!) and actually damaging my eyes because I wore contact lenses so much, I made the decision that I had to look into laser vision correction.
From booking the appointment for my consultation over the phone to going to my one month check-up, the staff at LASIK MD were informative, understanding and amazing. I was definitely nervous about the procedure, but after talking with a few staff members, who have had the surgery themselves, I felt confident that I was making the right decision—and now I know I did.
Since my surgery I have noticed a huge improvement in my vision. Being able to wake up and see my alarm clock from my bed is the best feeling in the world. I would definitely recommend to everyone who wears glasses or contacts to book a consultation with LASIK MD—you won't regret it! I know that having laser vision correction was a step in the right direction for trying to qualify for the 2014 Olympic Games!
