FAQ Video: What activities do I have to avoid after LASIK?

During a LASIK MD webinar Dr. Avi Wallerstein answer the following question: “What do I have to avoid or be careful about after the surgery, and for how long?”

Dr. Wallerstein says one of the most important things is to not rub your eyes within the first 24 hours following surgery. He says patients should try to avoid reading, watching TV, or going on the computer because these activities cause people to not blink at a normal rate—which dries out the eyes.

Dr. Wallerstein says most activities can be resumed a few days after the surgery, including light exercise. He says patients should wait a week before doing more strenuous exercise. Patients should wait a month before performing certain sports or activities that have a higher risk of being hit in the eye.
