Dr. Avi wallerstein answered the following question during a LASIK MD webinar: “I have astigmatism; what is this and can it be corrected?”
Dr. Wallerstein says a lot of people think they are not a candidate because they have astigmatism. He says astigmatism can be corrected effectively with LASIK.
Dr. Wallerstein says astigmatism is an irregularity of the cornea, which gives it the shape of a football, rather than a typical round ball. He says contact lenses and glasses are not an effective way of correcting astigmatism, so many patients find their quality of vision improves greatly following laser vision correction.
