Beautiful Views Across the Globe: How and When to See Them

Posted on 2013/08/21 at 5:00 pm by LASIK MD

Cliff tops overlooking oceans, mountains with snowcaps, skyscrapers towering over cities; there’s nothing quite like a breathtaking view. If you love to travel with the goal of seeing amazing locations, you want to see them clearly. Here’s a list of some of the world’s most beautiful views and when to see them at their finest.

Round Tower, Copenhagen, Denmark

On a clear day from the top of Copenhagen’s Round Tower you can see Sweden. An astronomical observatory from 1642, the Round Tower affords impressive views of Copenhagen rooftops, the ocean, and the huge Oresund Bridge. Go in mid-May right before tourist season for an unencumbered panorama.

Ramparts of Quebec City, Canada

Park yourself on the Ramparts of Quebec City, the only remaining fortified city walls north of Mexico, and you’ve got a breathtaking view of the Saint Lawrence River, the Chateau Frontenac and the city of Quebec. Best time to go? Year round, since Quebec has lots to offer in every season.

Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa

Named for its plateau shape, Table Mountain is best accessible by cable car, which leaves you suspended over gorgeous Cape Town. Check it out in February, which is the middle of the southern hemisphere’s summer, for the absolute best weather and sights.

Western Brook Pond in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada

Taking a tour boat across the 16 kilometer pond is one thing, but experienced backpackers can be dropped off the boat at the inland tip of the pond in order to commence a five day wilderness hike called the Long Range Traverse. The hike starts with a climb up the fjord. Once you’ve reached the top the view of the pond below will leave you breathless. Go between June and October to get the best views of the stunning combination of fjords and mountain peaks.

Sands SkyPark Observation Deck, Singapore

At the 58th storey of the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark hotel, you get 360 degree views of Singapore. Be there at sunset during the southwest monsoon season, when it rains the least and is warmest. Just cross your fingers that Singapore’s smog doesn’t obstruct your view.

The Zugspitze, Germany

Nestled among the Northern Limestone Alps, the Zugspitze is the tallest peak in Germany. Flanked by glaciers on either side, the view from the top is simply wonderful. Numerous hiking and ski trails challenge vacationers to adventures in a winter wonderland like no other.

Iguazu Falls, Brazil and Argentina

On the border of Brazil and Argentina, these waterfalls boast 80-meter drops and lush vegetation. Go in December to March for warm weather and peak water flow during the rainy season, or in June for dazzling misty rainbows.

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

The best time to see Paris from its majestic tower is when the sun is about to set and everything is golden. It’s even better in autumn, when the soft, fading sunlight makes for an even more beautiful view.
