Dr. Steven Kirzner
MD, FRCSC, DABO
Over 80,000 ocular procedures performed
Dr. Steven Kirzner’s first steps into the world of vision care began shortly after receiving his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree from the University of Toronto in 1975. He then went on to fulfill his Doctor of Medicine. Following that, Dr. Kirzner then completed his internship in Internal Medicine from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. From there, he rounded out his academic career by completing a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Toronto.
From 1983 to 1985, Dr. Kirzner worked out of a private practice based in Toronto and Orillia, Ontario. He later opened his own clinic in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. Five years after this experience, Dr. Kirzner successfully completed training in refractive surgery. In 1997, Dr. Kirzner himself underwent laser vision correction, and, as a result, discovered the kind of life-changing outcomes that such a procedure can offer. From this point, he made the decision to provide vision correction procedures on a full-time basis.
In the late nineties, Dr. Kirzner joined LasikVision Corporation, where he served as the organization’s medical director. In this position, his responsibilities included surgeries, administration and proper protocols as well as involvement in the training and instruction of other laser refractive surgeons. He also served as an ophthalmic consultant from 1999 to 2004 in the Yukon Territories. Since 1998, Dr. Kirzner has completed more than 80,000 refractive procedures in total—some of his patients include his peers like LASIK surgeons and physicians.
