Dr. Christopher S. Jackman completed his honours in biochemistry and medical degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland, graduating from biochemistry with the highest academic standing, and from medicine amongst the top of his class and on the dean’s list. He then completed his specialization in ophthalmology with the Ivey Eye Institute at the University of Western Ontario, where he served as chief resident.
Dr. Jackman is a respected eye surgeon who has performed over 30,000 ocular procedures. During his residency training, he had the privilege of training with some of the top cataract and refractive surgeons in the country. He currently has a thriving cataract and refractive surgery practice. Dr. Jackman is also actively involved in teaching refractive surgery to other ophthalmologists. In addition to performing laser vision correction, Dr. Jackman also treats the corneal eye disease keratoconus using the Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking (CXL) procedure combined with a T-PRK laser treatment.
Dr. Jackman has given presentations at several major national and international ophthalmology conferences, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. He has received various awards for his presentations and has had his research published in various scientific and medical journals. During his residency training, Dr. Jackman received numerous awards for leadership, and excellence in the teaching and training of medical students. He is currently clinical assistant professor of surgery in the faculty of medicine at Memorial University in Newfoundland. He is board certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology, as well as the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
