I had worn glasses and contact lenses since I was 11 years old. When my mom had LASIK in 2000, I began to imagine my life without glasses. I joined LASIK MD in 2007 and was excited that I too would soon be free from glasses.
When the day of my surgery arrived, I was definitely more excited than nervous. Immediately after the surgery, I noticed a huge difference. The next morning I woke up to see the alarm clock. It was an amazing feeling. Years later, I still notice the impact that laser vision correction has had on my life. I don't have to travel with contact lens solution, I can swim with my eyes open under water, I can take naps without having to take out my lenses and I can wake up in the middle of the night and walk to the washroom without bumping into things.
Professionally, I am happy to share my own experience with my patients. Many cannot picture themselves completely independent from their glasses and are also nervous to get the procedure done. I am able to reassure my patients about the ease of the procedure and guarantee the full support through the whole process from our receptionist to our surgeon. Once they have LASIK, they can’t believe how much their vision has changed and wonder why they waited so long to have it done!
