LASIK MD is pleased to offer patients All-Laser LASIK. Certain patients who were not previously eligible for standard LASIK may now be eligible using the All-Laser method.
The All-Laser method is a 100% blade-free approach, and involves using a femtosecond laser (instead of the microkeratome associated with traditional LASIK) to create your corneal flap. Using this laser, tiny pulses of laser light pass harmlessly through the outer portion of your cornea to create a thin, hinged flap. The cornea is the clear front part of the eye, and the flap is a thin protective layer created on the surface of the cornea. The flap is then lifted temporarily from the eye's surface or cornea to allow for the application of laser energy beneath it. The laser reshapes the cornea for vision correction.
This innovative technology is also well suited for creating uniquely shaped corneal incisions for corneal transplant surgery.
In both the traditional and All-Laser procedures, the protective flap is then replaced for healing. Both procedures provide the same excellent outcomes. Like in traditional LASIK, your corneal flap can be made quickly-it takes only about 15-30 seconds per eye; with the entire procedure taking about 10 minutes, including preparation time.
At LASIK MD, our clinics use the latest femtosecond technology from the world leaders in laser vision correction, including the IntraLase laser and the Da Vinci laser.
