PresbyLASIK Surgery
At LASIK MD we have had PresbyLASIK technology for many years now with the Wavelight Allegretto 400 Hz Eye Q laser, also called “Custom Q”. This has been available since 2007 on all new 400 Hz Wavelight lasers outside the United States. “Blended Vision” by Zeiss uses the same technology as “Custom Q” of Wavelight.
This technology, combined with Monovision, creates a “hyperprolate” cornea which creates a slightly greater “depth of field”. This makes seeing at near distances without glasses somewhat easier. However it also leads to a greater variability in the precision of the outcomes.
As a result, our surgeons - like most experienced refractive surgeons with access to this technology - do not feel that “Blended Vision” or “Custom Q” is something that they would routinely recommend for their patients.
Our preferred method of correction for the majority of our patients is proper distance vision correction in both eyes but, in certain cases, we offer Advanced Custom Wavefront Monovision, which is more precise and has a proven long term track record.
