Educational Background

Dr. Randa Garrana received her medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. From there she joined the Georgetown University Center for Sight in Washington D.C. for a pre-residency research fellowship in corneal wound healing. Dr. Garrana would go on to complete a residency in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center, followed by residency training in ophthalmology at the Montefiore Medical Centre in New York. 

Dr. Garrana’s research and academic record earned her acceptance into the prestigious Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in Boston. While there she received subspecialty training and was a junior attending physician in cornea and refractive surgery.

Refractive Experience

Dr. Garrana opened a private practice as a cornea and refractive surgeon in Los Angeles, California in 1998. Since then she has held positions at various laser eye centres in Los Angeles. She was also a staff member at both the Hoag Hospital and the Long Beach Community Hospital in California.

To date, Dr. Garrrana has performed over 50,000 ocular procedures. In addition to having extensive experience using the latest laser platforms, Dr. Garrana is often involved in clinical projects evaluating the latest technology and advances in the field of cornea and laser vision correction surgery.

Accomplishments and Awards

Throughout her years of training, Dr. Garrana received many honours and commendations for her scientific research contributions.

She has presented research papers at prestigious conferences held by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Cornea Society and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science. She has also had several of her research projects published in peer-reviewed journals.
