Dr. Bruce Pretty

Educational Background

Dr. Bruce Pretty completed his undergraduate degree at Acadia University and graduated from Dalhousie Medical School. Following three years in general practice, Dr. Pretty returned to Dalhousie to complete his ophthalmic training.

Refractive Experience

Dr. Pretty opened a private ophthalmology practice in Halifax in 1978. After many years of fitting contact lens, Dr. Pretty began performing laser vision correction in 1995. At first, he exclusively performed PRK refractive surgery, but as the hansatome evolved (flap-making tool used during the procedure), he also began performing LASIK surgeries.

Today, LASIK eye surgery is his specialty and treatment of choice for patients who are appropriate candidates for the procedure. To date, Dr. Pretty has performed thousands of refractive procedures in both Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Accomplishments and Awards

Dr. Pretty continues to lecture at Dalhousie Medical School.
