Olympic figure skating bronze medalist & six-time Canadian champion
Having Laser Vision Correction at LASIK MD is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Freedom from glasses and contacts gives me confidence, on and off the ice, and helps me to perform at my very best.
I started wearing glasses when I was just six years old. They were always a burden. I had to strap them to my head during skating competitions, which was difficult and often uncomfortable. My skating costumes made me feel like a princess, but adding glasses to the ensemble wasn’t very attractive.
When I was eight years old, I tried wearing contact lenses. I was too young to put them in myself, so before skating I would have to go to my optometrist who would insert them for me. Afterwards, I would return to my optometrist who would take them out. This was a huge inconvenience.
As I got older, I started wearing contacts regularly. Unfortunately, frequent use resulted in multiple eye infections. Eventually I could only tolerate wearing contacts for a couple of hours at a time while skating. But that still didn’t work because they would often fall out of my eyes. It was a serious problem. As a figure skater my vision is very important. When jumping, I can rotate up to three times in the air, so everything goes through my field of vision. It’s critical to track and spot where I’m exiting my jumps.
I thought there was no solution, until I saw an advertisement for LASIK MD in the Yellow Pages. It was 2005 and I had just turned 18. If laser eye surgery could free me of my glasses and contacts, then my problems would be solved. I booked an appointment for a consultation. After it was determined that I was a candidate, I booked my surgery right away.
I couldn’t believe how quick and easy the procedure was. It was done in a few minutes, and the staff of the Montreal clinic was so kind.
Because I could stop worrying about my contacts while on the ice, my confidence as a figure-skater grew. Not to mention, my day-to-day life improved without the hassles of glasses and contacts. I’m happy I trusted my eyes to LASIK MD, and proud to say I’ve been seeing 20/20 ever since.
Thank you so much LASIK MD! You have changed my life and helped me achieve my Olympic vision!
