Educational Background

Dr. Joseph Weinstock completed his medical degree and did his specialization in ophthalmology at the University of Toronto. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at two major American centers for advanced ophthalmologic training and research—the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital in New York City, and the University of Iowa. Dr. Weinstock then completed advanced laser vision correction training in Milan, Italy and Montreux, Switzerland.

Refractive Experience

Dr. Weinstock has been a physician for over twenty years, and is one of Canada’s most respected and well-known ophthalmologists. He has extensive knowledge and expertise in laser eye surgery and has performed thousands of advanced custom wavefront procedures. Dr. Weinstock has lectured extensively and offered numerous training courses in vision correction. He is presently an assistant professor of ophthalmology in the faculty of medicine at the University of Toronto where he teaches eye surgery to ophthalmologists-in-training. He is also on-staff and holds full privileges at Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital, both part of the University Health Network.

Accomplishments and Awards

Dr. Weinstock is recognized as a Canadian pioneer in laser eye treatment. He was the first doctor in Ontario and the second in Canada to perform laser vision correction. Dr. Weinstock has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Refractive Surgery, and has guest lectured at conferences of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
