Educational Background
Dr. Robert Beldavs completed his Bachelor of Science and medical
degree at the University of Western Ontario. After receiving his
MD, cum laude, he moved to Toronto to complete an internship at the
Wellesley Hospital. He then returned to the University of Western
Ontario to earn his specialization in ophthalmology. He continued
with a post-doctoral fellowship in cornea, external disease,
refractive surgery and anterior segment surgery at the Emory
University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Refractive Experience
Doctor Beldavs has worked in several laser vision correction
clinics such as Gimbel Eye Centre in Calgary, Image Plus Laser
Centre in Winnipeg and most recently at the Clearvue Laser Centre
in Winnipeg. He is on staff at Misericordia Hospital, Western
Surgery Centre as well as at the Pan Am Surgical Centre in
Winnipeg. During his residency and fellowship, Doctor Beldavs
taught his expertise to both ophthalmology residents and medical
students.
Accomplishments and Awards
Doctor Beldavs was the recipient of numerous academic awards
including the Hurmant Award in Ophthalmology for the highest
Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) score and the
Resident Teaching Award during his fellowship. He has participated
in various research projects and has published articles in
scientific literature, including the European Journal of Cataract
and Refractive Surgery. He has also given presentations at various
events and major ophthalmology conferences, such as at the American
Academy of Ophthalmology.
