Educational Background
Dr. Brett Williams completed his medical degree at Memorial
University of Newfoundland. He then completed his specialization in
ophthalmology at Queen’s University in Kingston, where he
served as chief resident. He also received a 2-year optometry
training at the New England College of Optometry in Boston,
Massachusetts.
Refractive Experience
Dr. Williams has had the opportunity to build his expertise with
renowned eye surgeons. He also completed his training in refractive
surgery at LASIK MD with some of the most experienced surgeons in
North America.
Dr. Williams maintains a private practice in St. John’s where
he performs comprehensive ophthalmology. He is also on staff at the
Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Dr. Williams teaches at
Memorial University and tutors undergraduate medical students
during their clinical teaching. As chief resident, he taught a
variety of resident teaching sessions.
Accomplishments and Awards
Dr. Williams has participated in various research projects and
has published articles in scientific literature, including the
Canadian Journal of Public Health. He has also given presentations
at various events and major ophthalmology conferences, such as the
Annual Canadian Ophthalmology Society. During his medical school
studies, he was the recipient of the Surgery Prize in Anatomy,
awarded to the medical student who has demonstrated a high
proficiency in Anatomy.
