Dr. Mark J. Cohen of LASIK MD, one of the leading refractive surgeons in the world, performed the first laser vision correction procedure using Bausch & Lomb's state-of-the-art Zero Compression Keratome and Zyoptix Custom Wavefront technology. This represented the first time in the world that the two technologies were used simultaneously.
June 2001 Doctors Demers, Cohen, and Wallerstein publish study in Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci entitled "LASIK-Treated Hyperopia and Hyperopic Astigmatism with the Bausch & Lomb 217C Laser”
January 2001 Canadian Association of University Professors of Refractive Surgery (CAUPRS) holds press conference to release findings on benefits of Total Cornea LASIK.
CAUPRS president Dr. Mark J. Cohen and fellow CAUPRS members, Dr. Avi Wallerstein and Dr. Pierre Demers were joined by members of the media to release the results of 26,000 consecutive Total Cornea LASIK procedures.
November 1999 Doctors Wallerstein and Cohen hold Advanced LASIK courses for international refractive surgeons.
Doctors Avi Wallerstein and Mark Cohen hold the first of a series of international Advanced LASIK courses (A-LASIK) for experienced international LASIK surgeons. This course is the first comprehensive course of its kind oriented towards experienced LASIK surgeons. Future courses are to be held in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington, DC.
January 1999 First high volume LASIK clinic opens in Montreal.
Drs. Wallerstein and Cohen open the first high volume LASIK clinic in Montreal, performing in excess of 400 procedures per month. The Montreal clinic is the second clinic to offer Total Cornea LASIK, using the Bausch & Lomb 217 laser, the Hansatome microkeratome and the Orbscan topographer. Doctors Wallerstein and Cohen offer patients state-of-the-art technology at an affordable price.
September 1998 First high volume laser vision correction clinic opens in Toronto.
Drs. Cohen and Wallerstein open the first high volume (greater than 400 procedures per month) LASIK clinic in Eastern Canada and the second in North America. This Toronto clinic is the first clinic in North America to offer Total Cornea LASIK (the Bausch & Lomb 217 laser, the Hansatome and the Orbscan topographer). December 1997 Dr. Avi Wallerstein performs first "Total Cornea LASIK" procedure.
