LASIK MD Laser Eye Surgery – After Laser Eye Surgery – Post-operative Care
At LASIK MD, our dedicated team of eye doctors
have established many post-operative measures for our patients to
reduce the risk of complications and to increase the ability for a
successful recovery. However, it is important that you follow the
recommended post-operative examinations to ensure the proper
healing process and to be able to monitor the health of your
eyes.
You may also have a
LASIK MD co-managing optometrist or your own eye care
professional to perform these post-operative examinations. However,
this may entail additional costs that are not covered by LASIK
MD.
If you choose to use your own eye care
professional, your optometrist will require post-operative forms.
After your 24-hour post-operative appointment you will receive, via
fax or mail or in person, your refractive surgical report and
post-operative form for your own eye care doctor.
Post-Operative Care
Please remember that your follow-up appointments
are as important as the actual laser eye procedure.
Following your
LASIK laser eye surgery, you will be required to attend three
(3) post-operative examinations:
- 24 hrs after the laser eye surgery (must be done at LASIK MD)
- 1 to 2 weeks
- 1 to 3 months (as advised by your optometrist)
Following your
PRK laser eye surgery, you will be required to attend the
following post-operative examinations:
- 24 hrs after the vision correction surgery (must be done at LASIK MD)
- every day for the first 4 to 5 days following your eye surgery
- 1 to 2 weeks
- 1 to 2 months
- 3 months
- 6 months
The first 3 months of post-operative examinations are included
in the cost of laser eye surgery. Additional appointments may be
required. Contact

Vision Commitment Program.
In addition to these follow up visits, it is also important to follow the regimen of eye drops, wear your protective sunglasses as instructed and to follow the post-surgery recommended activity schedule.
