Dr. Hesham Lakosha

 

Educational Background

Dr. Hesham Lakosha completed his medical training at the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. He then went on to complete two post-doctoral fellowships; ocular oncology at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto and vitreoretinal at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Refractive Experience



From 2000-2007, Dr. Lakosha worked as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in Sydney, Nova Scotia. He performs eye surgery at both the Cape Breton Health Care Complex and Glace Bay Hospital. His surgical experience also includes various anterior segment operations such as cataracts, glaucoma, pterygium and strabismus procedures. He is also on staff at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital where he provides special services in the field of ocular oncology.

Dr. Lakosha also lectures at Dalhousie University and tutors ophthalmology residents and undergraduate medical students.

 

Accomplishments and Awards



Dr. Lakosha has acted as a specialist registrar in ophthalmology in various countries, including the United Kingdom. He has presented at several prestigious conferences such as the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the International Congress of Ocular Oncology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Canadian Ophthalmology Society. Most of Dr. Lakosha’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
