Educational BackgroundDr. Christopher Symonds completed his medical degree at Memorial University in Newfoundland. He then completed his specialization in Ophthalmology at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He also studied Ophthalmology at Stanford University Medical School in California. Refractive ExperienceAfter completing his residency, Dr. Symonds became a Staff Ophthalmologist at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst, Nova Scotia for two years. He is currently on staff at the Atlantic Health Sciences Corporation in Saint John, New Brunswick where he practices a full range of Ophthalmology procedures. He particularly focuses on cataract surgery, glaucoma (medical and surgical treatment), and diabetic retinopathy (medical and laser treatments). Accomplishments and AwardsDr. Symonds is a regular public speaker on Age Related Macular Degeneration on behalf of the New Brunswick chapter of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
