Educational Background

Doctor Johnson received his medical degree from the prestigious McGill University Medical School in Montreal. He then went on to complete an ophthalmology residency program at the Medical College of Georgia, where he was Chief Resident. Dr. Johnson was awarded a fellowship from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1996. He also holds a certification in Family Medicine from the University of Toronto, where he completed a two-year residency.

Refractive Experience



Dr. Johnson’s interest in LASIK surgery dates back to 1996. Since then he has specialized in cataract, refractive and laser surgery. He has extensive experience with intraocular surgery, including clear lens extraction for high myopia. Dr. Johnson performs over 700 cataract procedures each year. Dr. Johnson has also performed thousands of Zyoptix wavefront procedures.

Dr. Johnson has a great deal of experience using the Bausch & Lomb Technolas 217 laser and Hansatome keratome. He has performed laser vision correction for several laser centers. Most recently, Dr. Johnson was the Medical Director for a large laser center in London, and has lectured and taught the LASIK procedure to other surgeons. Dr. Johnson has received certification in the use of several types of ophthalmic lasers at a multi-specialty review of Laser Surgery.

Accomplishments and Awards



During his residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Johnson was awarded the J.L. Gayton award for his outstanding achievement in the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program. While at the Medical College of Georgia, he also received two awards for original research that he had conducted. In addition to having published several articles in leading medical journals, Dr. Johnson is a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is Chief of Surgery for the Woodstock General Hospital. In 2004, Dr. Johnson became an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario.
