Educational BackgroundDr. Alexander Tokarewicz completed his medical degree and residency in ophthalmology at the University of Western Ontario Medical School in London, Ontario. He was chief resident in his final year of training, during which he was awarded a Smith and Nephew Fellowship; one of five awarded annually worldwide. Dr. Tokarewicz completed his clinical fellowship in corneal and external diseases at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England – one of the most pre-eminent eye care hospitals in the world. Refractive ExperienceDr. Tokarewicz has been a practicing ophthalmologist for over 20 years, providing service to London and Southwestern Ontario. Dr. Tokarewicz has particular interest and expertise in the domains of refractive surgery, corneal disease, complex anterior segment reconstruction, sutureless cataract phacoemulsification surgery, and corneal transplants. Dr. Tokarewicz has also performed thousands of Zyoptix wavefront procedures. Dr. Tokarewicz is an active member of the University of Western Ontario’s department of ophthalmology, where he is an associate professor and teaches ophthalmologists-in-training. He has also taught various refractive surgery techniques to doctors from Canada, the United States and abroad. Dr. Tokarewicz is a member of the Ivey Institute of Ophthalmology at St-Joseph's Hospital in London. Accomplishments and AwardsDr. Tokarewicz has given presentations and lectured internationally at professional conferences on various topics, including refractive surgery, cataract surgery and infectious diseases. He has also published various articles in a variety of Ophthalmic Medical Journals. Dr. Tokarewicz places high importance in improving eye care in developing nations.
