For the ninth consecutive year, LASIK MD has been named as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, a program that recognizes success in Canadian businesses. But we wouldn’t be where we are today without our hard-working and dedicated employees. And that’s why we’re thrilled to introduce you to some of the remarkable people that make up LASIK MD.

Meet Kim Adair. Currently, she is the Centre Director at LASIK MD’s Winnipeg clinic and she’s been working with LASIK MD for over nine years. Read on to learn more about herexperiences!

What are some of the day-to-day tasks in your role? Daily, my workload is varied: I manage schedules and check employees’ availabilities to maximize efficiency, which takes into account things like staff holidays, staff travelling from clinic-to-clinic, sick days and more. I respond to emails from various departments, review CAO communications and relay any news to our team.

Name a treasured item you keep on your desk or at your work station? My Day-Timer! I like to have my Day-Timer open and keep it handy in case I need to jot down notes and reminders for things like birthdays, surgery days, travel requests, staff holidays, and much, much more.

What’s most inspiring to you about working at LASIK MD? To me, what is most inspiring is my staff, my coworkers from other clinics and, of course, LASIK MD’s team of surgeons. It makes me proud to see the ways in which we consistently go that extra mile to ensure patient satisfaction and quality care. We provide an amazing service which is so evident in speaking to our happy, satisfied patients. Also, I love how LASIK MD promotes from within and recognizes employees’ hard work and dedication.

Name one thing about LASIK MD that sets it apart from other employers! In the past, I have worked for other laser vision correction centres, and I am very proud of the standardized protocols in place at LASIK MD regarding operating procedures, validations, evaluations and beyond. We have ongoing CAO communications to keep everyone across the country in the know, and this helps us to stay on top of any changes. It’s a very organized system!

What’s one of your proudest achievements at LASIK MD? I have so many: Becoming a national SA Trainer/Supervisor, being part of the EMR Planning and Training Committee and, of course, becoming the Centre Director of the Winnipeg clinic.

While you’re not working hard at LASIK MD, what are some other things that you like to do? I love spending time in the great outdoors! On the day-to-day, I love to take my dogs for a walk (or hike). I also really enjoy tending to my garden, as well as growing vegetables and flowers to share. Another favourite pastime of mine is boating. But most of all, I love to cook and entertain for my family and friends.
